Ms. Stephanie Consoli Director of College Guidance
Stephanie Consoli is extremely excited to be leading the MDY College Guidance department this year. She has her Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and is a certified School Counselor for grades K - 12. Recently, Stephanie was the Managing Counselor at Options for College Inc. (OFC), a prestigious and sought-after private college counseling service. At OFC she assisted students nationally and internationally in successfully applying to their top-choice colleges. She has given seminars across the country on essay and application strategies and served as a College 101 Professor for a NJ College Scholar Program this past year. She is a renowned expert in the field of College Counseling who is known for her patience, understanding, and passion for helping students. She is looking forward to working together with each and every MDY family to achieve their scholastic goals!
Ms. Maya Lupa Assistant Director of College Guidance
Maya Lupa joined the MDYHS College Guidance and Career Counseling Department as an Assistant Director in the Fall of 2013. She received her M.S.Ed in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Services and Educational Leadership from Baruch College. Ms. Lupa is a creative, forward-thinking, and innovative leader with a demonstrated record of success in college enrollment management. Prior to joining Magen David she worked in numerous positions within CUNY’s Undergraduate Admissions System for nearly a decade. Working for the CUNY Central Office where she developed an in depth understanding of the intricacies related to college admissions averages, processing criteria and supplemental requirements. Ms. Lupa also taught Freshman Orientation and Leadership courses at Baruch College. Furthermore, she was instrumental in the implementation of the online direct admit process at the College of Staten Island. Ms. Lupa truly enjoys helping students and strongly believes that college is for everybody... it is just a matter of finding the right fit.
Ms. Lauren Kirsch College Guidance Counselor
Lauren Kirsch is back with MDYHS for her second year. She is a certified school counselor who graduated from the University of Maryland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Family Science and Human Development, and she recently received her MSEd in School Counseling from Hunter College. Throughout her graduate program, Lauren supported high school students through the college application and enrollment process while also providing students with social-emotional support. Additionally, Lauren served as a Graduate Peer Career Counselor at Hunter College, where she assisted college students and alumni with improving their resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills. Lauren is passionate about college and career counseling and hopes to continue to learn and grow as a counselor while encouraging students to follow their own passions.
Ms. Kelsey Jacobsen College Guidance Counselor
Kelsey Jacobsen is back with the MDYHS college guidance team this year. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with a BA in Health and Human Services with a concentration in Community Mental Health. She went on to graduate from Hunter College where she received her MSEd in School Counseling. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate programs, Ms. Jacobsen supported high school students both academically and socially during their transition to the next stage of their post-secondary career. Ms. Jacobsen previously worked as a career consultant and is excited to join the Magen David team. Ms. Jacobsen looks forward to encouraging students to work to their utmost potential so they are able to choose the career plan of their choice.
Ms. Barbara Dweck Art & Architecture College Counselor
Barbara Dweck will continue to work with MDYHS’s college guidance team this year as the Counselor for Careers in the Arts. Ms. Dweck received her BA and BFA from NYU in Art History and Studio Art. Before working at MDYHS, she worked in the Education Department at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC. She has taught Studio Art in Magen David for the past 6 years and is excited to help students turn their creative talents into careers. Ms. Dweck will work closely with students on their portfolios and help match their interests with appropriate colleges. She will also oversee the Fashion Institute of Technology’s “FIT Sunday Live Program,” where MDYHS students are sent to FIT to take various art courses. She truly hopes to inspire her students to turn their passions into their professions.
