Ms. Lauren Kirsch College Counselor, Test CoordinatorLauren Kirsch is back with MDYHS for her fourth year. She is a certified school counselor who graduated from the University of Maryland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Family Science and Human Development. She then received her MSEd in School Counseling from Hunter College. Throughout her education, Lauren supported high school students through the college application and enrollment process while also providing social-emotional support. Additionally, Lauren served as a Graduate Peer Career Counselor at Hunter College, where she assisted college students and alumni with improving their resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills. Lauren is passionate about college counseling and hopes to continue to learn and grow as a counselor while encouraging students to follow their own passions.
Ms. Kelsey Jacobsen College CounselorKelsey Jacobsen is back with the MDYHS college guidance team for her third year. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with a BA in Health and Human Services with a concentration in Community Mental Health. She went on to graduate from Hunter College where she received her MSEd in School Counseling. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate programs, Ms. Jacobsen supported high school students both academically and socially during their transition to the next stage of their post-secondary career. Ms. Jacobsen previously worked as a career consultant and is excited to be a part of the Magen David team. Ms. Jacobsen looks forward to encouraging students to work to their utmost potential so they are able to choose the post-secondary plan of their choice.

Ms. Barbara Dweck Art & Architecture College CounselorBarbara Dweck will continue to work with MDYHS’s college guidance team this year as the Counselor for Careers in the Arts. Ms. Dweck received her BA and BFA from NYU in Art History and Studio Art. Before working at MDYHS, she worked in the Education Department at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC. She has taught Studio Art in Magen David for many years and is excited to help students turn their creative talents into careers. Ms. Dweck will work closely with students on their portfolios and help match their interests with appropriate colleges. She also oversees the Fashion Institute of Technology’s “FIT Sunday Live Program,” where MDYHS students are sent to FIT to take various courses. She truly hopes to inspire her students to turn their passions into their professions.
